First Taiwan LGBT Pride was held in 2003. Since 2004, Taiwan LGBT Pride was funded by Taiwan LGBT NGOs and gender groups. The mission is to organise LGBT Pride by Taiwan LGBT community every year. In 2008, the English official name has been changed to "Taiwan LGBT Pride Community" . Until now, this annual event has become the biggest LGBT Pride in Asia. The parade held in October 2015 attracted more than 78,000 participants, making it the largest gay pride event in East Asia. As of 2019, it is the largest in Asia ahead of Tel Aviv Pride in Israel, which is the largest in the Middle East.
